Amorim RF, Machado JA, Silva KFT and Porto FThe 1970s were marked by the context of the military dictatorship with the expansion of the state infrastructure, with the opening of the BR- 174 highway linking Boa Vista-RR to Manaus-AM, passing through the Waimiri-Atroari indigenous reserve. We point out that the BR-174 is currently known as Manaus-Boa Vista. It is a longitudinal highway that connects Roraima and Amazonas to Venezuela, totaling 974 kilometers, marking the cities of Manaus and Pacaraima, with the completion of construction in 1998, under the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
